Cool merchandise, in lieu of substantive blogging

For the last few days, I’ve been juggling an allergy flare-up, a trip to the State Fair*, planning the Geometry course, and getting the Engineering proposal in shape for the meeting with the Big University people on Monday… hence the light blogging. I’ll catch up next week.

In the meantime, I thought this was a pretty clever Mac in-joke:

And here’s the latest addition to my office desk — a binary clock, ordered today and should be here next week:

The leftmost two columns of lights are for the hour; the middle two are for the minutes; and the rightmost two are for the seconds. The clock in this particular picture reads 10:48:36, for example. Like they say — there are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don’t.

* By the way, the tenderloin was fantastic. The patty was a full 1.5" larger in radius than the bun. Pure Hoosier perfection. Shoulda been there, Right Wing Prof.

  1. Uh-huh. Wish I had been there.

    Big University. Purdue?

  2. I’ll name names once the program is officially either dead or up/running, which I guess will be Monday!

  3. Natalie

We have a binary clock – it makes the coolest patterns (usually for all of one second). The LEDs throw a lot of light in the middle of the night as well.
