Anybody out there use Gnuplot on a semi-regular basis? If so, do you use it in a Windows environment? And can you recommend a decent graphical front-end for it so that a user wouldn’t have to use the command line?
We’re looking for a graphing utility to replace the computer algebra system we currently use in calculus. We need something free or cheap, reasonably easy to learn, and lightweight, but also something flexible and powerful enough to use in other courses past calculus. I used Gnuplot all the time in my UNIX and Linux days, and I think it fits our needs well — although the command line is a formidable psychological obstacle to a lot of our students.
