Lots of points to ponder. I think the one professor is right in saying that trust is the fundamental issue here. And other interviewees bring up interesting points — namely that research is primarily a social process, and the advent of online journals mean that the main skill for learning is the ability to read and analyze. Researchers were Web 2.0 before Web 2.0 was cool!
