The moment that I became a bass guitar player was in 1989 at the opening show of the (one and only) tour by Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe — when they closed the show with “Heart of the Sunrise” (#10). Tony Levin was the bass player on that tour and his performance of the bass part for this song was beyond description. I have a recording of that show somewhere in my closet at home; I was hoping to find some video of it but I struck out. However, I did find this cool 2005 rendition of the song by the California Guitar Trio with Levin on bass — check out the funk fingers — and special appearance by Jon Anderson himself on vocals. Enjoy!
